MBC Leads Business Panel in Int’l FOI Forum
20 June 2023 – The Makati Business Club held a session on Equalizing Access to Information: The Business Perspective at the 14th International Conference of Information Commissioners.
The Philippines is the first SEA country to be part of the ICIC. During the opening ceremony, President Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to support FOI as a fundamental human right enshrined in the constitutions.
Makati Business Club’s Director of Projects-Head of Governance and Sustainability , Catch Ofilada, discussed FOI in the Philippines and MBC projects to promote the initiatives. This was followed by a panel discussion with Former Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Director Kristian Ablan and Center for International Private Enterprise Country Director Ryan Patrick Evangalista, who spoke about strengths, challenges, and opportunities of FOI and RTI programs globally. An example of this is CIPE’s work in making Right to Information (RTI) programs in Asia more effective by promoting awareness and engaging the private sector and civil society organizations.
