Part-Time Accountant
The Makati Business Club is looking for a Part-Time Accountant who will handle the accounting of two (2) projects: Digital Democracy and Freedom of Information (FOI). The accountant will aid the MBC Accounting Head in monitoring and developing reports for these projects. This is on a highly flexible work set-up.
Duties and Responsibilities
The accountant will be responsible for the following:
Budget Preparation:- Assist and collaborate with the Project Lead to develop project budgets.
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs in budget templates.
- Review project budgets to ensure proper cost allocation.
- Verify that budgets align with project requirements and financial guidelines.
- Identify and support simple process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting and financial processes.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to implement changes effectively.
- Assist in organizing and participating in monthly project reviews with the Project Lead.
- Provide financial insights and analysis during these reviews.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports to the partners, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Attach signed timesheets for all salaries, invoices or receipts and other required attachments.
- Assist in revising project budgets, when necessary, especially for budget realignment
- Update budget documents and ensure proper approval processes are followed.
- Maintain project-related records, contracts, and other documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Organize and manage documentation in an accessible manner.
- Monitor project funds, advances, and liquidations.
- Keep track of financial transactions and ensure accurate accounting.
- Coordinate with HR and the Project Lead for updated contracts of project officers to facilitate accurate payroll processing.
Ad hoc Tasks:
- Accomplish additional tasks assigned by the Accounting Head as per the evolving needs of the organization.
Qualifications
The accountant should have the following qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
- Experience with monitoring expenses and processing payments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with USAID grants is a plus
