Accounting Officer
The Makati Business Club (MBC) is looking for an Accounting Officer who shall be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording, reporting, and reconciliation of financial transactions. The role oversees accounts receivable management, collection and VAT and tax reporting, and coordination with internal departments and external partners (such as members, sponsors, and funders). The position also supports the Accounting Manager in preparing financial statements and maintaining compliance with financial policies and government regulations.
Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable Management
- Prepare and issue Statements of Account (SOA) and send reminders to members, sponsors, and funders with outstanding balances.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Comms & Media, M&P and PPU) to prepare billing statements and ensure records are updated.
- Process collections of payments and issue the corresponding Official Receipts (ORs).
- Coordinate with the Admin Department and messengers regarding invoice delivery and collection schedules.
- Maintain and organize all records related to billings, invoices, ORs, deposit slips, and other A/R documentation.
- Prepare weekly and monthly aging reports of accounts receivable.
- Handle inquiries from members, sponsors, or funders concerning billings, payments, and related reports
Tax Compliance
- Receive and summarize BIR Form 2307 (Certificates of Creditable Tax Withheld at Source) from members, sponsors, and funders.
- Prepare and submit Monthly and Quarterly VAT Returns in compliance with BIR regulations.
- Prepare and submit Summary Alphalist of Withholding Taxes (SAWT) reports.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Record and monitor monthly amortization of unearned sponsorships and other income.
- Assist in reconciling related-party advances and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
- Support the Accounting Manager in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
- Perform other accounting tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Experience in nonprofit, membership-based, or donor-funded organizations is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Philippine taxation, BIR forms, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, QNE, or similar).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate across departments and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Integrity, reliability, and a high level of professionalism in handling financial information.
