MBC, Philippines-US Business Council, and American Chamber Host Filipino Young Leaders from the U.S
29 August 2023 – The Makati Business Club, Philippines U.S Business Council, and the American Chamber of Commerce welcomed this year’s delegates from the Filipino-American Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO). This event is in coordination with the Ayala Foundation.
Now in its 11th year, FYLPRO is an immersion program launched by MBC Trustee and Philippines-US Business Council Chair Jose L. Cuisia Jr. in 2012 at the suggestion of his wife, Vicky Cuisia, to strengthen PH-US relations by engaging emerging Filipino-American leaders during his tenure as Ambassador to the United States.
Throughout the delegates’ week-long stay, they engaged with key players of the Philippine business community, policymakers, and media. Since its launch, FYLPRO has produced ninety-nine (99) delegates.
“FYLPRO has come full circle and I am honored and proud to witness its growth from its humble beginnings in 2010 with ‘A Merienda with the Ambassador Youth Forum’” said Ambassador Cuisia in his Welcome Remarks. He continued “The Makati Business Club takes pride in its role as a convenor. With FYLPRO as the next generation of Fil-Am leaders and with leaders of the Philippine Business Community.”
This year’s featured speakers are Hawaii Representative Trisha La Chica and a YouTube Music and Podcast Content Strategy Lead Jan Tancinco. American Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ebb Hinchliffe was also present to give the Closing Remarks.
Attendees included Mrs. Vicky Cuisia, American Chamber of Commerce President and Treasurer, Frank Thiel and Philip Soleven, and Ayala Foundation President Tony Lambino.
MBC is secretariat to the Philippines U.S Business Council. This was established in 1987 to promote bilateral ties between the two countries. In the years that followed, MBC’s global arm has expanded through the MBC Global Programs, which aims to convene local and international business, government, and other stakeholders to promote bilateral business opportunities, ideas, and policies that support an innovative and competitive economy.
