Communications Officer
Makati Business Club, in collaboration with USAID, will be implementing this year’s Digital Democracy program, a process which encourages participation and good governance in LGUs.
We are looking for one (1) Communications Officer who will take charge in the dissemination of the program’s activities. The officer will be working with a young, fun, and dynamic staff, providing significant growth opportunities. This is on a highly flexible work set-up.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications Officer for the Digital Democracy program will promote and communicate the project’s objectives, activities, and achievements to various stakeholders. They will be responsible for creating engaging content, managing social media campaigns, preparing promotional materials, and coordinating communication efforts to ensure effective dissemination of information. Additionally, they will assist in the collateral development of the Digital Democracy Awards and craft post-event promotions, including videos reels.
Key Tasks include:
- Communication Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to promote the Digital Democracy program (including awards) and its activities to stakeholders, including LGU officials, civil society organizations, and the general public.
- Content Creation: Create compelling content for various communication channels, including website updates, newsletters, press releases, and social media posts, to raise awareness and generate interest in the program.
- Social Media Management: Work with MBC’s communications team to develop and execute social media campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
- Posters and Promotional Materials: Design and produce posters, flyers, and other promotional materials for program events, workshops, and training sessions. Ensure that all materials are visually appealing and effectively communicate key messages.
- Event Support: Provide support for program events, by preparing event materials, creating post-event blurbs, summaries and videos to highlight key takeaways and achievements.
- Boosting eLearning Modules: Develop and implement social media promotion strategies to boost the visibility and uptake of the self-paced eLearning course.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with project team members to identify opportunities for stakeholder engagement and outreach. Maintain regular communication with project partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination of communication efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably in the development sector or with government programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for different audiences and channels.
- Strong graphic design skills and proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva.
- Experience managing social media accounts and executing social media campaigns across various platforms.
- Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques,
- Passion for civic engagement, governance, and participatory democracy is a plus.
