Agriculture Project Officer

The Project Officer will support the initiation and implementation of the MBC Adopt-a-Coop: Yellow Corn Project. This role is responsible for executing activities across three components: post-harvest management, capacity-building, and market access. The officer will act as the primary liaison between partner cooperatives, technical partners, and private sector stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and within scope. 

The Project Officer will work closely with the Project Lead, Agriculture Project Lead, participating cooperatives, and project partners to ensure that project achievements, lessons learned, and opportunities for engagement are effectively implemented and communicated. The position will also support market access activities by strengthening the visibility of participating cooperatives and facilitating communication between stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.

Responsibilities

Post-Harvest Management Support

  • Coordinate the selection, procurement, and installation of corn drying facilities in two (2) selected cooperatives. 
  • Liaise with technical partners to ensure the installed drying facility meets local cooperative requirements.
  • Coordinate and organize technical orientation and hands-on training on operations and maintenance for cooperative staff. 
  • Assist in developing and distributing practical handling and storage guidelines focused on moisture management and quality preservation.

Capacity-Building and Training Coordination 

  • Support development of trainings focused on sustainable corn production and crop management, including organizing logistics, schedules, and materials. 
  • Support roll out of workshops focused on entrepreneurship,cooperative management, and financial literacy to strengthen operations and value chain competitiveness. 

Market Linkages Establishment

  • Identify and register partner cooperatives for regional buying events, trade fairs, and buyer-matching opportunities. 
  • Support partner cooperatives in establishing digital presence (i.e. Facebook page, e-commerce platforms, etc). 
  • Coordinate promotional efforts in MBC communication channels (social media, newsletters, website)

Stakeholder Communications and Coordination 

  • Draft official correspondence, invitations, meeting notices, project updates, and other communications for partners, cooperatives, buyers, government agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate invitations, confirmations, attendance tracking, and follow-up communications for project activities and events.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, talking points, and background notes for meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Coordinate with the MBC Communications team on visuals, messaging, and posting schedules.
  • Prepare some social media content for the program.
  • Support communication and coordination between project staff, participating cooperatives, technical partners, and donors.
  • Maintain stakeholder contact databases and communication records.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Track communication metrics including audience reach, stakeholder engagement, media coverage, and digital performance.
  • Prepare communication updates and visibility reports for project management and donor reporting requirements.
  • Contribute communication content and documentation to project reports and donor submissions.
  • Support the collection and organization of project photos, testimonials, and success indicators for reporting purposes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Development Studies,or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in project implementation, community organizing, or agricultural development. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino.
  • Basic digital literacy in managing social media platforms and digital communication channels.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects, agricultural programs, cooperatives, or development organizations is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel for project activities and field visits.
