Private Sector Contribution to The Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) is an ambitious and holistic set of targets that aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. With this herculean task, government cannot fulfill this alone. The private sector, with its ability to innovate solutions and access to different capitals is an important contributor to achieve the Goals by 2030.

SDGs Is Our Biz Project is all about guiding Philippine businesses in integrating the SDGs into their business models and CSR initiatives. Through various multi-sectoral consultations, we have come up with the first version of a guidance document that shows how the SDGs are relevant in the Philippine business context and how business contribution to the SDGs can be measured through specific metrics and indicators.

The rollout activity will be a two-day initiative composed of lectures and workshops that will (1) orient the participants on the Philippine business sustainability context, (2) help them understand and appreciate the SDGs, (3) guide them on how to measure and report their contributions, and (4) help them value the important role that they play in achieving the Goals.
