    We, the undersigned, strongly support the opening of the school year and schools, with appropriate public health and safety standards in place, by August 24, 2020, as previously recommended by the Department of Education (DepEd).

        The undersigned organizations express their profound disappointment over the verdict against Rappler’s Maria Ressa and former writer Rey Santos Jr. It is a big blow to press freedom especially given serious constitutional questions on whether the law is applicable at all.

        Joint Statement on Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020

          We the undersigned are united in voicing our opposition in the strongest possible terms to the enactment at this time of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (House Bill 6875) recently approved by the House of Representatives on third and final reading, and a similar bill approved by the Senate (Senate Bill 1083) last February.
