CONVERSATIONS THAT STRENGTHEN
DEMOCRACY AMIDST GLOBAL THREATS

Freedom and democracy have faced numerous threats in recent years. With the COVID-19 pandemic, pressure to democratic institutions has worsened, due the rise of disinformation, government overreach, and restrictions on civil liberties.

MBC believes democracy and free enterprise together have been responsible for protecting and expanding human rights, creating jobs, and improving standards of living. We believe that with democracy under threat around the globe, so is free enterprise and the fruits of their alliance.

So, we started the Global Freedom and Democracy Series, in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, as one of our initiatives in protecting and strengthening democracy. Over the past two years, the series has drawn more than 344 leaders from the private sector, public service, civil society and the academe.
