On November 14, 2025, the Makati Business Club (MBC) met with Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. for a dialogue on advancing Philippine agriculture through government and private sector collaboration. The discussion highlighted MBC’s ongoing initiatives and tackled critical challenges in the agricultural value chain, including rice importation policies, price transparency in local trading hubs, and logistics solutions. 

The meeting also explored practical ways to support farmers, strengthen the sector, and identify new areas of collaboration between the business community and government to drive sustainable agricultural development.

[14 Feb 2024] MBC had a courtesy call with South Korea Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa discussing official and important matters. This meeting helps build strong relation between South Korea and the Philippines.
[15 Feb 2024] MBC met with the Singapore Ambassador Constance See to foster diplomatic relations and mutual understanding about Singapore-Philippines relations.
[04 June 2024] MBC had a courtesy call with the UK Ambassador Laure Beaufils. The meeting fosters diplomatic relations and mutual understanding.
[20 June 2024] MBC had a courtesy call with the Italian Embassy. This meeting fosters diplomatic relations and mutual understanding.
[01 July 2024] MBC had a courtesy call with Japan Ambassador Endo Kazuya. The meeting fosters diplomatic relations and mutual understanding.

EVENTS AND BRIEFINGS

[15 March 2024] MBC organized back-to-back meetings on regional investment and challenges with representatives from the Japanese Government and a US security consultancy firm.

[12 March 2024] MBC had an Economic Briefing for Enterprise with Singapore. This briefing serves to align both parties on updates and information about economic data, trends, and forecast related to enterprise.

BUSINESS COUNCILS

MBC is secretariat to five foreign business councils: France, Malaysia, Singapore, U.K., and the U.S. The councils convene key representatives from government, business, and the diplomatic corps to promote bilateral business opportunities, ideas, and policies that support an innovative and competitive economy.

FILIPINO YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAM (FYLPRO)

In November 2024, MBC, PUBC, AmCham, and Ayala Foundation hosted a Joint Networking Cocktails for the 11th batch of Filipino-American Young Leaders Delegation (FYLPRO).

MOUVEMENT DES ENTREPRISES DE FRANCE (MEDEF)

In October 2022, MBC and the Philippines-France Business Council (PFBC) members hosted 25 French business delegates from Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) – the largest employer federation in France – to explore bilateral opportunities for infrastructure, transportation, and energy under the newly elected Marcos and Macron administrations.

On November 3, MBC and the Philippines-France Business Council (PFBC) organized the Welcome Cocktails for MEDEF International. Later in the program, PFBC Chairman Mr. Anton Huang and MEDEF Vice Chairman Mr. François Corbin signed an MOU to formalize the partnership between the Philippine-France Business Council (PFBC) and Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) on promoting cooperation between businesses in the Philippines and France.
