07 August 2011- The Makati Business Club has released the results of its second semester 2011 Executive Outlook Survey conducted from 19 July to 2 August 2011 and participated in by more than 10% of its members.
The survey sought to capture MBC members’ economic outlook and opinion on issues concerning public governance.
Asked whether the business environment has improved over the past 12 months, 64% of respondents said yes, while 32% said no.
In response to the question whether they expect the economy to perform better over the next 12 months, 76% answered yes, while 20% said no.
Corruption in government has been reduced over the past 12 months according to 53% of the respondents, but 38% said the incidence of corruption has not gone down.
Finally, 80% of the survey respondents said graft and corruption charges should be pursued against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, while only 8% said charges should not be pursued.
In another part of the survey, where MBC members were asked to indicate whether they were satisfied or not satisfied with the performance of 45 government offices and agencies within the first year of the Aquino administration, respondents gave the highest net satisfaction scores to the following government agencies: the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Finance, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Department of Health.
On the other hand, the Ombudsman, the Sandiganbayan, the appeals and lower courts, the Philippine National Police, and the Bureau of Customs received the lowest net satisfaction scores for their performance from July 2010 to June 2011.
