Statement on Respect for the Constitution and the Rule of Law to Assure Filipinos and Investors

    The Makati Business Club calls on the country’s political and judicial leaders to let the House of
    Representatives and, if so determined, the Senate follow the impeachment process set forth in the
    Constitution against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. Regardless of the outcome of the process,
    giving the chief justice the chance to defend herself within our constitutionally-defined process is
    essential to demonstrate this country’s respect for the rule of law and to assure all Filipinos that we are
    protected by our laws.

    MBC tackles TRAIN Package 2 Proposal

      1 March 2018 – The Makati Business Club hosted today a roundtable meeting with Finance Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua to discuss the proposed reforms under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Package 2. This round of proposed tax measures will affect corporate income tax, fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, and tax facilitation.

        I was certainly swept off to the Makati Business Club without my realizing it. Without my ever imagining that I could take on the role in January 2011, when the then chair, Ramon del Rosario, asked me to fill the big shoes of Bill Luz and Bertie Lim.
