The Makati Business Club Awards Business Leaders and Corporations at its Anniversary Celebration
Taguig, Philippines — October 15, 2026. The Makati Business Club acknowledges the work and dedication of business leaders and corporations through its 45th Anniversary Awards.
The Pioneer Member Award
The Pioneer Member Award was awarded to founding leaders, Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas and Hinrich J. Schumacher. This honors their role in shaping MBC’s legacy from the start. Alongside fellow original incorporators, board members, and advisers, they helped first mobilize the nation’s top corporations towards a shared vision of economic progress and national development.
The Active Engagement Award
The Active Engagement Award acknowledges the MBC corporate members that have consistently shown up to champion both MBC’s and the members’ shared goals. They set the standard for collaborative leadership across the Philippine business community.
This award was given to three MBC corporate members: SGV & Co., Benedicto Steel Corporation, and Soriano Projects & Ventures Group (SPV). They have demonstrated their commitment through continuous attendance and active participation across MBC events and meetings in the last five years. They have displayed how consistent presence drives meaningful dialogue.
The Advocacy Champion Award
The Advocacy Champion Award recognizes the corporate members, institutional funders, and key experts who have worked closely with MBC to drive meaningful social impact. Three institutional allies were honored with this award: Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) for transparency and accountability, CARD MRI for agricultural development, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for sustainability, including dedicated technical partner Atty. Fabian K. delos Santos.
As real policy reform requires sustained collaboration, MBC is grateful for their steadfast financial support and expert guidance. These collaborations have championed key programs, policy briefs, and national advocacies that contribute to the advancement of Philippine business and economic development.
The Partnership Legacy Award
The Partnership Legacy Award honors the corporate sponsors whose long-standing partnership and sustained support have contributed to the growth, programs, and continuing mission of MBC. We extend our deepest gratitude to key corporate members: IBM Philippines, Bain & Company, SGV & Co., and SM Investments Corporation (SMIC), whose consistent commitment catalyzes our membership programs, providing MBC members with timely, global thought leadership and strategic insights.
Makati Business Club was founded in 1981 by Enrique Zobel. At the forefront of economic and social advocacy for the Philippine business sector, MBC has helped lead business efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and liberalize the economy. Ultimately, MBC seeks to create more jobs and better lives for Filipinos by working with businesses, the government, and other partners.
