    18 March 2020 – The new decade welcomed the world with a series of unfortunate events – raging wildfires, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, geopolitical conflict, and a global pandemic. The Makati Business Club hosted a virtual roundtable discussion with Robert Joffe, President of Frost & Sullivan Japan, to assess these issues and navigate disruptions in the global market.

    Appeal for a Nationwide Suspension of Real Property Tax Payments

      Support the suspension of the payment of real property taxes which fall due and are payable to all local government units nationwide during the effectivity of the community quarantine period and consequently, the extension of the deadline for real property tax payments (without interest and penalties) until the community quarantine is lifted.

      CALL ON CONGRESS FOR MAXIMUM FISCAL RESPONSE

        The undersigned business organizations support the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to call congress to a special session to pass a supplemental budget to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic effects.

        STATEMENT SUPPORTING ANTI-COVID 19 MEASURES, SUPPORT FOR WORKERS AND BUSINESSES

          Makati Business Club supports the measures the national and local governments are taking to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge their decisions have to take into account saving lives and at the same time preserving livelihoods, contending with our limited resources, and racing against the quickening spread of the virus. We acknowledge review and revision will be needed, including to ensure people can make a living or receive assistance, and food and other goods can move in a timely manner.
