Bike Back to Work: Bike-Friendly Initiatives For Your Company

Biking employees are productive, healthy, happy employees, Dutch biking experts said at a Makati Business Club-Embassy of the Netherlands activity where the experts also shared easy ways for companies to help achieve these.

“If your employees cycle, they become healthier and that leads to increased productivity, less sick leaves, and in the end, happier employees,” Teije Gorris, Team Leader of Capacity Building at DTV Consultants, a Dutch traffic consultancy with 30 years experience, said at the event on 12 November 2021.

Online Assembly on Strengthening Small Businesses in Iligan City

The Iligan city government initiated an online conversation with its MSMEs, asking them what support they need. Makati Business Club and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung supported the initiative by organizing a Citizen Assembly with the Iligan City as part of its Digital Democracy project. The opening event on September 16, featured a message of support from DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, Opening Remarks from Dr. Aristotle Alip of CARD MRI, and keynote speaker Vice Mayor Jemar L. Vera Cruz.

In the closing event on September 30, Vice Mayor Jemar L. Vera and Frei Sangil spoke about the results of the voting, and Director Bien Ganapin of NEDA provided a message of support. MBC member and CEO of Focus Global, Steve Sy spoke about the advantage of having Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, which provides the city with a resource pool of talent.

Makati Business Club joins other Filipinos in congratulating the national and local government, healthcare, business, and other sector leaders for achieving current vaccination levels. To build on the gains and accelerate this, MBC supports the call to open vaccination to all Filipinos, while maintaining priority lanes for A1, A2, A3, and A4, among other measures. It pledges its continued support in this and other COVID-related responses.
